Hawke's Bay & Napier - North Island

Referred to locally as New Zealand's 'fruit bowl' because of its warm sunny summers and crisp winter frosts that produce a plethora of crops, Hawke's Bay is better known internationally for its premier chardonnays, merlots and cabernet sauvignons. After a major earthquake in 1931, the wonderful seaside town of Napier was rebuilt in Art Deco style, and nowehere else in the world can you see such a concentration of this much-loved architecture.
